Wheeler
"
The woman that I married
so many years ago.
Has been taken from me,
for reasons I don't know
I think of her so often,
as I travel down the road.
18 wheels a singing,
under a heavy load.
A concrete strip unwinding,
in a never ending line.
A good truck and trailer,
and weather, oh so fine.
The CB radio crackles,
as other truckers said.
"Hey Swift, the Bears are out,
and open scales ahead!
My friends, that I work with,
are glad that I am back.
To travel out there with them,
along the asphalt track.
And like me, they miss you,
but we know that you are here.
As we travel down the road,
a rolling in high gear.
